Pumpkin Patch
Over the weekend, we took the kids to a local church, that has a pumpkin patch, to pick out their pumpkins. The boys ran all through the pumpkins, trying to find the perfect one.

Emma used her new found skill of walking to explore the pumpkin patch (and to get away from mommy and daddy).

We tried to get the kids to cooperate for a group picture. Emma kept wanting to crawl away.

The kids had a great time and are very excited to be carving their pumpkins tonight. Caleb has already let us know, that he will draw what the face needs to look like and daddy will carve it.

Bloggy Giveaway (Fall 2008)

It’s that time again and I am so excited about my giveaway. Back in March, when I went to the Hearts at Home Conference, I picked up a great children’s devotional. My Big Book of 5-Minute Devotions is one of the best devotionals for children I have found. My 5 year old, Caleb, absolutely loved this book. Even when we were in the middle of another book, he would request that we read this book instead.

This book has different devotionals based on God’s creations and character building lessons. There are approximately 40 devotionals that give some facts about an animal and then a character building lesson to learn. Some of the lessons are about accepting others, obeying your parents and being a good friend. This book also has excellent illustrations and is very engaging for children.
We are actually going to begin reading this book again with Caleb and including our 3 year old, Camden, as well. We feel the lessons are timeless and can not be repeated enough to our children.
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment with a way to get in contact with you. I will be ending the giveaway on Friday, October 31.

Fun In the Country
Last weekend, we headed to my dad’s for a cookout with my brother and his family. Caleb and Camden were so excited to go. Caleb started packing a suitcase, on Friday, with all the things he would need. I had to remind him we were only going for dinner. Of course, we had to feed the horses when we got there.
Caleb really got into feeding the horses this year. My dad has several apple trees in his back yard. He failed to spray them this year for insects, so they are not edible. The horses did not care about that, they ate them up.

Camden was a little more apprehensive of the horses and kept his distance.

We had a great time with our family. It was fun to see how our nephew, Brady, is growing up. He really enjoyed playing with the boys. They kept making him laugh at dinner. He is usually so quiet so it was really cute to hear his laughing.

Emma had a great time exploring the house and the yard now that she is fully mobile.

Macaroni Art

I took the boys to the library earlier in the week for a craft project. They created pictures with colored pasta. They had so much fun we are going to attend one at the end of the month along with a Halloween story hour.

Apples, Apples, Apples
This weekend, we took our annual trek to Tanner’s Orchard for some family time. And some of these…

The boys could hardly wait all week to go and play at the playground. It has all kinds of different things to play on, an old schoolbus, a wooden pirate ship, a wooden airplane and bales of hay. There are also pony rides and the cider barrel train, which Caleb loves to do.

Emma did a lot of this…

We came home with plenty of apples, apple cider and apple cider donuts. YUM!
The only problem was the weather, it was a little warm. It felt more like summer than fall. We’ll just hope for colder weather next year.
