Rainbow Crayons

The boys had three days off of school last week because of snow and excessive cold. They were going a little stir crazy, so we had a craft morning on Thursday. I had seen this idea to make rainbow crayons out of old crayons.

I went through the bag of crayons and pulled out all of the broken ones. After pulling off the wrapping, I put them on a cookie sheet lined with tin foil. I baked them at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes and then let them cool until they were soft.

This is where the boys got to have fun. I have some little cookie cutters that they used to cut fun shapes.

They didn’t turn out as thick as I would like, but the boys had fun and it kept them busy for the morning.

I LOVE this idea! We make cookie crayons all the time in muffin tins but doing it this way would save me the clean up of the tin(wax melts through liners) and you don’t get the little crinkle pieces of the liner falling off the crayon.
We will have to try this next time I am feeling crafty.

Very cute! My friend did this last year with pink/white/red crayons and her son gave them to his classmates along with a handwritten note for Valentine’s day!

I also read somewhere about using a silicone muffin baking pan. That would make the clean up easier.

Got something to say?
