We have been recycling in our house for years. We have tried several containers to hold all of the recyclables, but never been happy with anything we used.

These recycling bags from Design Within Reach have proven to be perfect for us. The bags are made of “industrial-strength tarpaulin, a heavy double-warp fabric, that is plastic coated.” They are waterproof, color coded, have velcro tabs to attach the bags together and handles to make for easy carrying.

I can usually go a couple of weeks before I have to take the recycling in since they hold so much. I place them on our basement stairs to stay out of the way. Our 3 year old son can even help with this. He knows which tote to put the recyclables in based on the color and is always excited to help.

I just got a responsibility chart for our 3 year old from Empowering Kids and it seems like it will really help us develop some structuree with him. It is a magnetic weekly chart that comes with 160 magnetic job tiles, including blank tiles. There are tiles for younger children, older children and tiles for good behavior.

This is going to be great for our son. He loves to do things by himself and is so proud of himself when he does it correctly.

I am always on the lookout for great ways to organize. I have been looking at this Boon Frog Pod. It is a bath toy that scoops the toys our of the tub, drains them and also has storage for bath products in a built in shelf. It also attaches virtually to any bathtub wall.

Has anyone tried this?

I am always curious what other people have in their diaper bags. This is what is in my boys diaper bag:

  • changing pad
  • diapers (2 sizes)
  • diaper wipes
  • burp rag
  • bottle
  • formula
  • desitin
  • purell hand gel
  • tide to go pen
  • pacifier
  • pacifier keeper
  • kleenex
  • band aids
  • antiseptic wash
  • snacks (cheerios and kix)

For longer excursions out of the house, I will put books and toys in there as well to keep the boys occupied and happy. What’s in your diaper bag?

Between doctors appointments, playdates and yet another trip to the store for diapers, there is a lot to keep track of. Luckily, I’ve found that there are a number of mom friendly planners on the market to keep you organized and on schedule. I am using a Franklin Covey 365 Planner from Target right now. I do like some of the features in these other planners such as:

  • grocery/menu planner
  • medical logs
  • birthday reminders

There are a few different brands on the market. The ones I have found are:
